I was just wondering if anybody around here used an iPod. And if you do what type? I used to use an iPod Classic. I just bought myself a 32gb iPod Touch. I am actually using it right now to make this thread. It has a very advanced web browser for a mobile device. It has wifi which is one of the main reasons I bought it it. It works very nicely. It has a YouTube and iTunes features to which I really enjoy. The price just about makes you choke though.:D It Is $499. You can get it for less if you look around though.:)

i for one want to be special and NOT use an iPod ;
currently using a cheap brand mp3 player (512mb), and i'm about to buy a ZEN mp3 (2-4GB preferably) in a few days/weeks. Touch screens i will probably never like ; it becomes too smudgey and after a while (if kept dirty) ; yOu will have to press REALLY hard to activate a control.
Thats my opinion thoughs.

In contradiction to fOrsaken, I often find touch screens over-sensitive. ;) >_<
Anyway, I use a 4Gb 2nd Gen Green iPod Nano :D (Almost said an iPod Nanao there xD) It's served me fine, and continues to do so. :p

I choose not to use an iPod. Because you can get a perfectly good mp3/video player for much less. I got a 2 GB Meizu Dane-elec Mini player. The video resolution on this thing is jaw-dropping

I had an 8 gb 2 gen red nano,(got it for buying my laptop) it didn't play movies, so i bought an 8gb ipod touch (jailbroken of course). It's awesome how the touch is so sensitive, and the screen is just beautiful. The only bad thing is that the battery only last like 3 hours....that sucks.

Well, to be honest I happen to own an iPod Nano 4G but I never use it for some odd reason... maybe it's because I spend most of my time playing football (where I can't listen too it) or I'm on the computer (where I listen to music from the speakers)...

iPod seems to be the most popular mp3 player around. I know their are other ones just as good though. I just kind of like the look of the iPod. My first mp3 player was a little 1 gb trio mp3 player. It played mp3s, recorded and was a flash drive too. It seemed to last forever though. I have a friend that uses iRiver. It works fine...Just a little bit big for me. Mp3 players seem to do alot more than just play mp3s these days.:D

lmao, i was laughin when i read this thread,
i have two iPods , one 40GB photo(color) and a new-mini(16GB?)
but i rarely use them anymore
i have so many mp3 players that i just give up on using them anymore, too much to keep them up to date with my mp3 library (which is around 120GB and over 5 languages)
lol, i have a palm pilot that is mp3 player, i have a 1gb mp3 player (cant recall name)
i have a panasonic mp3 with sd card, my mobile phone also is an mp3 player and i have a zune (8gb) and others laying around somewhere around in my room
and jsut for the record, no i am not spoiled,
also for the that said iPod has a mobile browser is wrong, ipod touch has a full browser not a mobile that is why you can go into all sites and not jsut limited sites like u are restricted with mobile phones

Ervis3h18, What type of PDA do you have? I have a Palm TE2, Palm TE, Palm TX and Palm LifeDrive.:) They all play mp3s and have SD card slots. Only 3 have Bluetooth and 2 have wifi. The TE2 needs the screen replaced though. I need to hurry up and order it. I bought the TX brand new but the LifeDrive I bought defective and fixed it up. What it needed was the junky screen protector peeled off because it was causing digitizer troubles. I then gave a hard reset and it was as good as new. It has a 4gb internal drive plus the SD slot. It works very well as a mp3 player. I still like to use my 30gb iPod Classic and 32gb iPod Touch though.:D

I used to have the 4 gb iPod nano (New generation that plays vids) but I sold it and went to go buy myself a Meizu by Dane-elec mini-vid player (8GB) for about the same price. It almost has the same features as an iPod (touch scroll for volume).
I don't think I'm ever going to get bored of this baby XD

If your uncle works for Microsoft that would explain why you don't like Apple very well.:D My friend had a 30gb Zune and I like how it works. All mp3 players have their good and bad points. I think that Apple way overpriced every new iPod that came out. The prices go down after awhile though.:)

Got me a Gen 1 iPod - and it still works get about 1 1/2 hours out of the battery these days so not that practical anymore, moved on to a Gen 3 - those sucked, because they were the first of the popular models there seemed to be a lot of quality control issues and the demand must have caught Apple napping because they had a lot of issues dealing with all the problems in a customer friendly/efficient way. Thats dead now - well the screen is , which makes it unusable as MP3 player so just gets used as a backup drive for my laptop.
Currently using a black iPod Video that I bought about 2 years ago, gets used ALL the time not just for music and video but for transporting data around, as the main back up for my work data on my laptop and also for when I travel for backing up my photo's from my digital cameras.
Thought about getting the Touch when I bought my new laptop a couple of weeks ago but decided to hold off until the next bump in capacity, it's enough for music and and a few hours of video but not rally for backing up my photos as I shoot a lot in raw format so the image files tend to be quite big (7 to 10 MB each so a few hundred to a thousand of those can really chew up storage space).
Our unix admin loves his Touch - he's always on it using an ssh terminal session in to one or more of his servers through our WiFi network, checking email or web server stats pages, all that sort of stuff. The only time he uses his work suppled Blackberry is when he goes off site and loses WiFi connection.

In order to put videos on your iPod you first need to convert your video into mp4 format. So you need a video converter. This one is free and should work very well. It has always worked for me.:) Here is the link.

I got an iTouch about a month ago.. Now I'm sort of broke but it was worth it. xD I had a nano before that though and I was actually using the wire from the nano to charge the touch by accident.. Does it do anything to the ipod if you charge it with the wrong cord?

No point to get an ipod for music. It cost too much for it. Other item that are same class as it are more cheaper. Buying an ipod just like throwing the money into the sea. Wasting. I prefer buying a new cellphone which contains more function than ipod. Since the price wasn't too much different. I don't know why some one willing to spent on it = = And why Apple wanna sell ipod for such high price. Just a well-known brand and that's all. Nothing speacial.

It shouldn't hurt your iPod. I always use an old charger that I used to use to charge my iPod Classic to charge my iPod Touch. It works great. If you buy an iPod charger it usually works with all models. If it has the same voltage and amps then it shouldn't be a problem. With iPod cords one size fits all.:)

I use an 80gb iPod classic with video. I love it. I have all my songs in there and audiobooks. I don't use the video feature much tough. What I like most about it is that I don't have to keep taking CDs in and out of the player while I'm driving or working out. I did have to change the in ear headphones it comes with Those things hurt.

I have the oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold one, the very first model released. I'm not sure if it's the Classic, though. Isn't the Classic the one where all of the buttons are on the little wheel? Mine has all of the buttons ABOVE the wheel. It's a few years old...Four or so? But it's malfunctioning. I tried to play Big Black Horse and a Cherry Tree by K.T. Tunstall, and it was stuck on that song for HOURS. And it wouldn't let me shut it off...My friends say I should throw it against a wall, but I think I would get in trouble if I did that...:D

Why don't you try modifying it. Try iPod Linux or Rockbox. Here is a link for Rockbox. I like it alot better than iPod Linux.
http://build.rockbox.org/
Just click on iPod 3rd gen. I guess thats what yours is. Download that and copy the .rockbox file to your iPod. Then download this.
http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/win32/ipodpatcher.exe
Now hold down the middle button and the menu button at the same time. Wait for it to start resetting and then hold down the middle button and play/pause button at the same time. This should put you in drive mode. Now plug in your iPod. After all this run the ipodpatcher.exe that you downloaded from the second link. it will open up a little window. type in i and press enter. Wait for a little while and when it says it is done press enter again and it will exit. Unplug your iPod and reset it and it should have Rockbox installed. Of course this is all for a Windows computer. Just a little modification that I tried on my old iPod.:)

I a silver mini. . . I forgot how much GB. That one lasted for about 2 years. I never had a problem with the battery but just one day it stopped working. Even when I was charging it. But, I dropped that thing so many times and it still worked. It lived it's life. Right now I have a black iPod video with 30BG. I just had the battery replaced about 2 months ago because it died. I was happy when I remembered that I had the extended warantee plan. Good until the beginning of 2010. I love my iPod. It goes with me where ever I go. I have a set of head phone especially for road trips. I have the car charger, house charger, radio transmitter thingy, a cord that I can play music through my stereo. Yeah, I love my iPod very much so. =3

If I'm not mistaken, the new iPod Touch with the lowest amount of GB (I forgot the number), costs around $300 in the US. I don't know how much that would be anywhere else. But, I've heard that a lot of people (In the states at least) are having a lot of issues with their touch screen being off calaborated with no way of fixing it. Even a few times I've heard, the touch screen didn't work at all.
I wonder what Apple is going to do about that one. . .

I have 5,000 songs downloaded on it so far, leaving me with 7 GB left.
I use some for video, but mostly for MP3's and it is getting it's use
BELIEVE ME, I am never seen without it since I listen to music

The touch screen on my iPod Touch has worked perfectly. One really nice thing is that it isn't sensitive to pressure. I think the way it senses when you touch it is by heat or the small electric pulses that run through your body. Whatever it is it works great and has perfect calibration. At least for me.:D Palm Handhelds and touch screens that are sensitive to pressure are a different story though.:)

The iPod Touch comes in three different capacities. There is the 8GB, 16GB and the 32GB. Here are the prices for each. (At least on Amazon.;))
8GB is $284.99.

The price on the 32GB looks like it has gone down recently. It used to cost about $499.

I have a 4GB ipod nano I think it is and I'll be honest--for the longest time, I was very anti-ipod and anti-camera phone because why on earth would you need those when you've already got perfectly good technology. I can't seriously run with an ipod or a cd player or anything because it never stays right or anything, at least not if you're a serious runner. I have had a camera phone for a long time and the only thing I use it for is to have cute pictures of my pugs all day to look at. My ipod I do like a lot but it isn't a necessity. I actually got it as a gift from my mother who thought they were kind of cool. They're handy I guess because you don't have to carry cd's or anything around--but for someone like me, I just listen to the same stuff over and over again anyway...

I can't seriously run with an ipod or a cd player or anything because it never stays right or anything, at least not if you're a serious runner.
Try a arm band case. Those things look like they would work for running. I never have tried one though.:p

That's the same kind of iPod I have.
I can't stand the silence. It's odd. That's why I always have music on in my room.

The 30GB iPod Video was a very popular model. It was the most durable model in my opinion. I still use mine even though I have a touch. I have Apple OS, iPod Linux, and Rockbox all running on my 30GB Video. I have a boot loader so I can choose which OS I want to run.

Ok sir i will.
I have an ipod touch and an iphone. I am excited about the new apps (official apps) that are going to start showing up they might make the touch series more useful. By the way anyone here use their ipod to watch Anime? I saw this cable at the apple store not to long ago, the box lead me to believe you can use your ipod as a apple tv on 480tv. Anyone else seen this or did i just misread the box?

Mines a 30GB Ipod Video.... Though I like the new ITouch... How much does it cost really...?
I've got that 30GB also. Black, fifth generation. It's good to have the memory, but I haven't used much in the way of video.
And according to the apple store website an iPod touch is about $300 for a 8gig, $400 for a 16gig, and $500 for a 32gig. I'd check up on eBay first for one of those.
P.S. - This was allready replied to, but I just responded to the first post the link brought me to. lol sorry. :p

Yes, I have used my iPod for anime sometimes.

In my honest opinion, the iPod is an overrated piece of MP3 player who only has a nice design, thats all.
So, no. I do not use one.

You just bought an Ipod shweet, you your are going to have to use Itunes to sync up your music , movies and all that jazz. If you have music from another MP3 player I suguest you put it on your computer. Once you have your music on your PC download Itunes and install it. Once you open Itunes it will upload all the music on your PC's hard drive. Also Itunes has a built CD ripper that allows you to rip tracks from the cd right into your Itunes library. Sorry to say, you can't drag and drop like other MP3 players.

Nah, gonna invest in one that can hold maybe about 5000 songs. I've got a large library and it'd be handy to have one on the go.

I use an 80gb ipod classic. 80gb is a huge amount of space for an mp3 player i'd say. and 160gb is just plain insane. At times I wonder how much bigger they're going to get.

Shukei i'm using an 80gb classic as well. To be honest i filled a 20gb mp3 player (obviously just with songs) and i had more music left over so i think i can fill about 30-40gb of music and then the rest will just be movies and anime ....don't think i'll fill the entire thing though.

Personally I thnik those Ipods that can hold 4000+ songs are quite useless, I mean seriously, who listens to 4000 songs and remebers them all? The best Ipod ever is the touch. Very usful, maining cuz it can go on youtube/internet + holds songs, now THAT'S useful!

It all depends on what you need it for. Maybe someone does not want to waste the money for youtube/internet on a phone because they don't have the time or can just go on the internet at home. I for one listen to music all the time. Yet I like having 4 or 5 movies on my ipod. That's why I bought an Ipod classic close to 2 years ago, and it hasn't had any problem.

I have the iPod nano and it's blue - it's the first generation of nanos or 2nd maybe, I'm not sure, so there's no video capability but that's ok because I think it's kind of lame to watch videos on such a microscopic screen! No offense to those who do that :D
I really need to get an iPhone because whenever I'm going on a trip, I got to take my cell phone, laptop, iPod, PSP, and some books lol so it'd be really convenient to have the iPhone.....unfortunately.....they're super expensive and have to many flaws at the moment....:(

I have a silver 80gb iPod Classic. I LOVE it! At the moment it's got almost 5,000 songs on it, and around 60 movies, and I still have almost 20gb of free space left! I listen to it all the time, with the awesome Bluetooth headphones I got for my 30th birthday. :D
As for watching movies on it, the resolution is so good that I forget how tiny the screen is pretty quickly. Plus, I only watch them when I'm out somewhere, not at home or anything silly like that. :p
