For those using Vista 32-bit, MS release the final SP1 standalone for x86 today 18 March 2008 and here's the link:

I'm using it now and seems to work ok on my laptop. I hope this fixes a few problems encountered by Vista users as claimed by MS, it's a BIG download at 434mb and MS has announced to wait till mid-April for the windowsupdate download any way i do have a torrent link so that it'll give you guys who have slower connections to get it (actually i got my sp1 earlier through this torrent link after searching and searching and searching) here it is:

lol, the whole reason they withheld sp1 so long was to improve performance
it was suposed to be out in jan but then it got pushed till february then again to march (thats how microsoft works)
anywasy they promised the made performance improvements
one of them was the file transefer wich took forever, like a turtle ina marathon, they say its faster i havent had a change to test it on my vista
and some other stuff wich i cant recall now from the call i had with my jobs microsoft rep

yah, i noticed this one before but i found a solution for it back then... it usually happens between networked computers, when a vista machine tries to access shared folders/files in an xp machine... it had something to do with switching off a few pre-configured functions of vista in control panel, programs and features and you click the 'turn windows features on or off' what you do is you unselect 'remote differential compression' and i think you need to download a fix for some xp systems called "link-layer topology" it's said that this'll fix xp and vista not being able to see each other if you're accessing shared folders in a workgroup... well the problem is not true to most xp and vista systems maybe there just a problem with the system files of xp being corrupt especially the tcp/ip service... :mayuri:

fuki-taicho, i believe this link is the source of "vista lite" version:
http://www.vlite.net/index.html
if you click the link and click on "service pack info" go to the last paragraph where it says 'hotfixes...' and read on
well, there's still hope for updates to install even if it isn't sp1 (vista lite version), i'm currently searching for a way to slipstream my vista dvd rtm with sp1 x86, maybe there are some of us who have the resources, since they say that it's not easy to slipstream vista just yet... :hollowichigo:
anybody have any suggestions?

THe Vista SP1 is really rubbish have not notice any difference... Now my Windows is unactivated has to reinstall it....
I think its just security that has improved in that Service Pack....
Why not just release a more significative SP to correct all the bottlenecks of the OS.....

I don't use vista when I'm playing video games. It's a RAM EATER, ravenous OS.

i'm assuming you have a pre-installed vista on your machine. if you have a legit vista activated i guess it wouldn't let you re-activate... here's a pic of my vista with sp1 installed:

you can PM if you need assistance... :hollowichigo:

I can't get SP1 because I don't use English version of this OS. I need to wait for Polish version of SP1. I wonder when microsoft can release other lang SP1.

hey, if you still want to update to vista sp1, M$ has released an 'all language (stand alone) version' and hopefully it has Polish :), i haven't tried this version though. you can download it here.
