Anybody notices that there's only 10 captains in the Captain meeting hall?

From the latest bleach episode #210 did anybody noticed that there are only 10 Captains that showed up in the Captain meeting room before sending them out to investigate Kensei's group? So if you include Kensei plus they mentioned a Kenpachi that I'm not sure if that's Zaraki Kenpachi or another Kenpachi which they don't show, but if you count him then that make it 12 Captains from 101 years ago. Shouldn't there suppose to be 13??? One more thing. Which Captain did Toshiro replaced???

Hikifune is the former captain of the 12th who was promoted to the Royal guard (replace by urahara).

The Kenpachi at the time(11th div captain) was apparently lazy or just didn't care, his identity is still unknown.

The 10th division captain died in battle and has yet to be replaced (this is where your missing captain is coming from).


It is unknown who Hitsugaya replaced but i guarantee he did not replace the captain who had recently died in the TBTP. Byakuya looked about 13 in the TBTP and Hitsugaya looks about 12/13 now. Meaning he probably didn't even exist at this time or if he did he only existed as a baby or very, very small child. Unless of course the division was 'captain-less' for a very long time.

clearly the 10th squad's leader has conveniently not been mentioned. so your question is valid. It was mentioned that particular in this interaction between Unohana , Kyoraku and Ukitake

exactly what I was going to say... toushiro was probably a little small brat or maybe wasnt even born ! so who was the filler captain in between ? neither Aizen, Tousen , or Ichimaru ever occupied the 10th squard

Oohh! Good point! Maybe 10th's Captain died in battle..Or, just my hunch, maybe he's the one turning the shinigamis into vizards? The anime haven't revealed yet who's the culprit behind the transformations right? Aizen is a suspect but who knows..

Well I rule out that possibility since its clearly said by Unohana that he did die in battle. the question is who replaced him ? because there is no mention of the 10th squad captain candidate (maybe they didn't find a suitable candidate).

however it seems that the

vizards will be expelled from S.S since kensei and mashiro already have become hollowed shinigami. so supposing all the vizards get expelled it'd leave 4 captain vacancies, Rose, Love, Shinji and Kensei's squads

Now we know that Kuchiki Byakuya will replace Ginsei Kuchiki (6th)
Aizen will take over shinji's squad (5th)
Soifon will take over Yoruichi's squad (2nd)
Tousen will take over Kensei's squad (9th)
Konamura would take over Love's squad (7th)
Mayuri takes over Urahara's squad (12th)
Zaraki already has taken over from the previous Kenpachi (11th)

Yamamoto remains the same as ever (1st)
Ukitake(13th) , Kyoraku (8th), Unohana (4th) also retain their squads.

Ichimaru would be a V-C under Aizen (shown long ago in the rescue rukia arc where Hinamori sees Aizen and Ichimaru for the first time)

Like you said, maybe they didn't find a suitable candidate at that time. Maybe the 3rd and the 10th squad were Captainless until Gin and Toshiro finally stepped up. I think this is possibe since the current squads (3rd, 5th and 9th) are captainless for quite some time now.

Little Hitsugaya wasn't even born yet judging during TBTP by the timelining.
Since Byakuya was a kid back then, you'd expect Hitsugaya to be a baby or not even born yet. =D

hey hey put the spoiler tag !! well I don't think the 10th squad would remain captainless for like at least 50 years, I can agree that the 3rd squad could have remained captainless but itd be too much for the 10th squad.

yes yes, I actually meant baby , I know byakuya was a kid back then, so either Hitsugaya was a baby or wasn't born.

Nani? What would I put in the spoiler tag? All I said was based on the anime.. (I don't read the manga)

Anyways, I think you're right about the 10th couldn't be captainless for 50 years or so..Toshiro's young age slipped my mind..Gomen! >_<

Maybe Ichigo's father was the former 10th Captain? I have the impression that Kurosaki Isshin was a captain because he has a part of haori with him when he turned into a shinigami when he helped Ichigo before..

Yep that is one of the possibilities, and then he probably came to the real world (forced or by himself), fell in love with Masaki , but somehow lost his powers 20 years ago from the current timeline.

its quite conveniently suits Toushiro's age to become a captain as well, since its acceptable to say that toushirou has been a captain for 20 odd years. it fits quite right.
