[Misson] The Covenant's Invasion

[Vasto Lorde Ulquiorra]

Into the meeting hall of the 10th division walked the Captain, Raizen. The man sat himself immediately. A single message had been sent via Hell Butterfly to four of the 10th's officers, two seated from separate squadrons, and two others of recruit status.

"Yare yare. This should be dealt with quickly; I wonder where they are," he commented, beginning to tap an index finger on the desk.

[Blackout]

In flash of Shunpo, Raiden arrived in the meeting hall. He gave a small bow to his Captain as a show of respect.

"Captain."

Raiden grabbed his chair and slid it backwards and quickly sat in his place. He then just waited for whomever else it was to arrive.

*In significantly worse Shunpo, Setsuna follows Raiden into the hall, stopping next to a chair. He adjusts his sword in his belt, and bows to the other Shinigami, and then their Captain- in a slightly grudging manner, not used to having to respect others. He then sits in his chair and looks calmly at the other two*

So Kumori-san, why have we been summoned?

Mr. Black's cane could be heard tapping through the hall leading up to the seating area, before the man himself appeared in the doorway, as formal as always. The man seemed to air a sense of decorum and intelligence as he strode across the room, before stopping away from where others were sat, choosing to stand, wordlessly he tipped his head towards the captain before placing the cane infront of him and leaning down his hands on it.

*All the time since the Captain entered the meeting hall, Snow had been sitting on the big chandelier in the high ceiling that illuminated the room with it's many candles and cast a shadow of mystery among all the present persons.After she noticed that everyone made it to the meeting point she jumped on the ground landing gently and without much noise on her left knee and holding on the right hand.She got up smiling to everyone and then turned to Taicho.*

"So, now that we're all here will you finally tell what is this all about?!"

And so all were present. Raizen ceased his tapping, greeting each Shinigami with a nod, differentiating only for Setsuna.

"Taicho to you," he said. Immediately following his greetings, he gestured toward cups of tea which had been prepared and placed on the table beforehand. After taking a sip from his designated cup, the Captain spoke in a gentle, yet grim tone of voice.

"We may or may not have a serious problem on our hands. It seems a disturbance in the world of humans is causing many deaths as a result. Sounds normal, right? Think again. These are creatures from another planet, maybe even another galaxy. We don't know what kind of state the victims' souls will be in, so they are best dealt with immediately."

With a sigh, he continued the briefing, teacup pressed softly against his bottom lip.

"We know little of this threat. We do know however, that there are two sides to the battle already, and only one man remains on the side we assume is good. You four are to meet with him in the living world and offer assistance in facing the other creatures. It is safe to assume these beings are all spiritually aware, so only use Gigais if necessary."

"Any questions?" the Captain asked at last before sipping from his cup.

*Setsuna listens carefully to the Captain, and lowers himself into the Heart of Stone*, analyzing with ruthless logic that statements that his Captain had made. After a few moments, Setsuna raises his left hand up and begins to speak*

I have some questions.

How do we identify our contact in the world of the living?
What do we do if our help is refused?
Do we have any other information on the creatures attacking the souls?

It was at this point that Mr. Black moved forward, producing a small black square from inside his coat, and throwing it on the ground infront of all the shinigami, inbetween where the captain was sat and the others on the mission.

"I may be able answer your questions" he explained, before clicking his fingers, the square opened up slightly, revealing a lens, which promptly sparked into life, projecting a holographic image of the earth which was about four feet wide.

"The enemy we are fighting it known as the covenant, a group of alien beings composed of a caste structure" he said, the convenant symbol replacing the image of the earth.

"They have far more advanced technology than the humans, using lasers and cloaking devices" he continued, the symbol being replaced by an example of covenant weaponry, in this case a carbine.

"Our biggest concern is the energy shields they employ, they are kinetic barriers which can stop most standard rounds from human weapons and other covenant weapons, and as we have observed, reiryoku particles as well, meaning that these shields are a very high problem for us. Fortunately it appears that only the higher castes have access to these shields." he explained, a picture of a brute surrounded by the shield appeared on the projection, showing how it covered the entire body.

"I think I have explained as much as a can, the captain should be able to answer the rest of your questions" Mr. Black finished, clicking his fingers again the lens retreated, and he picked up the box.

[Blackout]

Interesting, a recruit with a fair amount of knowledge of the opponent, I can see why he was picked for this mission.

Something bothered him about those that were chosen for this mission. If this was as great a threat as it would seem to be, why isn't the entire Gotei 13 responding? Or is only the 10th sympathetic in the affairs of the humans? Even then, why is he the highest ranking officer besides the Captain? No seriously, why?


"If this is an alien invasion, are we only going to defend or shall there be retaliation? Also, where shall we meet this one man?"

*She listened carefully while the recruit explained most of the questions that she intended to ask herself about this unusual enemy they were going to face.The information he had seemed more than complete and he looked calm and very secure of what he was saying so she assumed his words to be true*

"And you know all this because....!!"

*Still it wasn't needed to say that many other things were not answered.When the Hell Butterfly came to her announcing of the meeting regarding a mission in the real world she took it that might have to do with hollow slaying or some stronger opponent.But aliens...She turned to the Captain with a puzzled look on her face.*

"Same questions as Raiden and also....doesn't this sound like too much of a threat for only our group to handle?!!Not that I think we aren't capable of it......still!!!"
