The Montez Family is a family of shinigami that have lived in the Seireitei for at least the past 6 generations. He is olive skinned owing that the first Montez was a Phoenician sailor. He keeps his beard and mustache trimmed. He wears the shihakushou with roll the sleeves up so they rest somewhere around the elbow showing off his muscular body. He occasionally will wear one of his many straw hats ranging from fedoras, cowboy hats, carnival, bucket, or standard umbrella hats. It all depends on his mood at the time. Being the heir of a lesser noble family he does own an extensive wardrobe of the finest clothes money can buy but he only wears them on formal occasions with family business. The second most common attire is his motor cycle gear with chaps over jeans, a heather grey v-neck shirt and cotton button down mechanics shirt underneath a black leather riding jacket with gloves attached. His helmet is solid black.

Personality:
Raoul for the most part is laid back. He likes to tease and relax but when duty calls he can snap to attention like every soldier. He tends to help anyone in need as he always admired his father's compassion towards people. He is especially sensitive to women. While he doesn't hold the women of the 11th to a different standard he still gives them more consideration than some of the men. He is an amateur psychologist and as such he enjoys listening and helping people through their problems to better hone his skills. He is extremely devoted to the point of annoyance. The trait many people called a bulldog trait. Once the Montez's stick to someone they stick for life.

Biography:
Raoul was raised among a family of Shinigami. The family had members in almost every division. He was exposed to the brutalities of life early seeing family members badly injured and grew to accept military lifestyles early because of it. He began martial arts training from the moment he could walk. He was schooled by asking questions and tutors giving him the best answers they had. When he was eight, he was given his first sword, a full-length katana, and even though it was much too large for him to carry, he would still train with it. At 10, by some tragic twist of fate nearly all of his family had become KIA. His older brother, 20 at the time, was a drunk and a sloth that couldn’t be trusted. Raoul ran away with his Katana, and extra kimono, and his older sister Jia Lin who carried what little she dared of the family heirlooms. The two hired themselves out to a Tea Shop. Raoul, hoping to regain the position that his family held before their demise, began training hard under the owner of the Tea Shop who had been a thief before marrying. He then began hiring himself out as a bodyguard for "Rukongia Nobles" who felt threatened and wanted peace of mind. Eventually he began feel extremely tired. He would be going through his day and suddenly even standing became hard for him. These attacks were very rare and the lasted no more than three minutes. During one bad episode the shop owner saw this attack and said when he tried to move Raoul, it was like gravity increased around anything near Raoul. The owner being quiet wealthy decided to call up a shinigami friend. This friend said that the rarity was a good sign but that Raoul had shinigami powers and these were just signs of his powers wanting expression. Raoul, fueled by the knowledge of his father's accolades as a shinigami and the fact that Raoul himself could become one, decided to join the Gotei 13 and left shortly after the visit.

The attacks became rarer as he gained better control over his reiatsu. Even when they did occur he could never notice them unless he saw the effects on someone else. He was your typical student but slightly ahead during the early years because he was used to the basics from listening to his father and the family talks. He entered the academy at 4’4” and by his junior year he was 6’5” and much heftier. A classmate said it was as if he was training under extra gravity. He was an all-around fighter liking to use a bit of everything but his zanjutsu was, for a while a little clumsy, as he had to get used to being bigger than the sword with his growth spurts. During a real world training run, he defeated a hollow with his bare hands he had grown so strong physically. All in all, he was an average prospect with above average strength. His skills were polished and refined much more so than many of the other students but he wasn’t a slow learner.

He was picked by lot to go and train in the Northern Mountains of the Seireitei with a former 11th member. This training quickly forced him to become stronger in order to survive. Here he gained shikai in less than a years time. When he returned, he found out he had been promoted to 17th seat and was soon taking on heavier missions. Raoul always exemplified a strong soldier as best as he could. When the Captain of the 11th, Aries, mysteriously disappeared during a real world mission it nearly destroyed Raoul. The shinigami looked up to Aries as a substitute father figure and he hated Aries for vanishing. For sometime after that his zanpakutou refused to release until, with help from the newly appointed Vice Captain and comrade Nicholia Croft helped Raoul re-attune himself with his shikai. Shortly after a promotion to 3rd seat he found a girl that his sister influenced to join the 11th that somehow attached herself to him like no one else. When a family art visit turned into uncovering a gang's prolific crime syndicate Raoul proposed and is now married to that girl who stole his heart, Jia Ling. Together they adopted the daughter of the man who revealed the Red Dawn's crimes, Alysse.

Raoul is currently combating the Red Dawn wherever he can whilst seeking the power known as Bankai to help him with his goal.

Zanpakuto appearance: Raoul's sealed state zanpakutou is a shirasaya (guard-less) katana. It is roughly 30 inches long and has a larger low carbon content steel spine that can take punishment much more readily considering its longer length. When he checked the white lacquered sheath he noticed an indention where a small knife could fit underneath the cord. He asked a blacksmith to make a companion knife that would fit during one of his school breaks. The knife it 6 inches in total length with a 3 1/2 inch blade. It is weighted so it can be thrown in emergencies.

Fighting Style: Raoul is adept at all forms of combat and can usually create a bastardized replica of any fighting style he sees. His primary skill is his speed, followed closely by his sword and hands. Kidou is something he does well at but prefers to use it when he cannot accomplish the task through other means, such as wide area crowd control or extreme long range attacks. As such he generally will draw his blade first in combat when the grounds are against him or evenly matched. He will on occasion, when the fight is solidly in his favor, use only his fists and kidou to fight but this is a rare occurrence.

Spirit Manifestation: An elderly Sword smith who fights with hammer and breaths fire. He wears a green kimono and will often try to sharpen Majolnir. He is a perfectionist and always chastens Raoul for "mistreating" the blade. He is not stingy with praise or criticism.

Spirit World: A green forest on a high mountain. The heart of the forest is a giant tree with a forge in the center. He works on a single blade by continually folding and drawing it out except when he is training Raoul.

Shikai Appearance: The white handle elongates to almost 18 in and gains gold accents that appear like gyros. The blade gains a white aura. It has almost a perfect atomic alignment so that it will not break, chip, or strain without great difficulty.

Zanpakutou Element: Earth

Innate Ability: Three spiritual gyro's within the blade will start moving based off the user's reiatsu and make the blade's movements faster, stronger, and more graceful.
Formula: This increases zanjutsu up to 5% after 2-5 minutes of warm up time for the gryos to fully activate.

Passive Ability: Every time the edge of the blade strikes an object of high resistance (wood, stone, metal, earth, bone, plastics, resins, glass, etc.) the momentum is added to the next strike.
Weakness: The maximum momentum = 1 ton. Also slicing water, clothing, hair, flesh, etc. doesn't increase the momentum.
Formula: By using 6% of user remaining reiatsu the full momentum can be added to the next strike. By using 3% the user can add half of the momentum from the previous strike. By using 2% of the remaining reiatsu the user can keep the full force of the momentum in effect.

Active Abilities:
#1: Gravity Warp [Juuryoku no Hizumi 重力の歪] : By collecting all the momentum stored by the passive ability and unleashing them in one blow everything within a five-foot radius will be ripped, crushed, and torn at by the excessive fluctuation of the gravity fields around the user. The owner is exempt from the effects not the wielder.
Weakness: If the user hasn't allowed the momentum to add up to a sufficient amount the damage will be severely less.
Formula: By using 25% percent of the user's MAX reiatsu the user inflicts 30% of the zanjutsu stat + 2.5% target primary combat stat.

#2: Hammer of Dawn [Yoake no Uchi夜 明けの槌]: The user starts a two step-attack.

First Dance [Ichi no Mai 一の舞]: Metal chains seek out the opponent to bind them and restrict all movement so that the target is wrapped head to foot in chains. If all 10 chains catch the target, they will be struck with the second dance (if reiatsu differences are negated.)

Formula: If the target's hoho, is less than 75% of the user's then all chains will capture them. If they are 115% of the user's roughly 5-7 might catch them. If they are 175% of the user's speed then only 1-2 chains might capture them. The fewer chains the easier it is to escape or move around. If all ten chains reach the target (without taking the target's reiatsu/zanpakutou/spiritual prowess into account) they are effectively guaranteed to be hit by the second dance.


Second Dance [Ni no Mai 二の舞]: All the momentum logged from the passive ability, and the gyros culminates into a giant hammer. This hammer rises into the outer atmosphere before dropping, drawn by the chain's reiatsu resonance with it. This is similar to Gravity Warp but much more powerful because it is all focused into a single weapon

Formula: For 25% of the user’s MAX Reiatsu this attack inflicts 50% of the user’s SLP in addition to 5% of the target’s primary combat stat times the amount of strikes delivered; if the target is a nonliving thing the attack inflicts simply 3.5% of the user’s Zanjutsu as damage times the amount of strikes delivered.
Weakness: If the first dance fails to capture the target with at least two chains the second dance can't be used. The second relies on the success of the first. In addition, if Raoul is too close to the target during the second song he will take some shrapnel damage.
