[13th Division] [Recruit Mission] Unforgivable

Stepping on the splintered door and entering the dilapidated shack, Frausty looked around the room. It was empty save for a pair of broken chairs and an overturned coffee table. The room was gloomy and smelled musty, sparkly dust particles swirling in the sheets of light that filtered from the open doorway.

"This place looks old. When was the last time you were here?"

She curiously observed as Shien punched the wooden floor and the sound of the the floor moving drew her attention. A portion of the floor broke to reveal a hidden chamber within. Shien must have used a mechanism hidden under the floor to reveal the underground way.

"Wait...the tavern is down there?"

She leaned forward to take a peek at the underground hideout. The fallen city was full of hidden places, it seemed. Whatever the reason for doing so was, Frausty was sure it wasn't for good intentions.

Shien looked up at Frausty when he heard her question.
"Last time I was here, you say?" He hummed momentarily, thinking. "....about 30 years ago."

Shien ran his fingers through his long hair, and took a deep breath.
"There is no...tavern around here. That's just the front, if you will, a nickname."

Shien began walking down the stairs. "I'll go first, this place is like a maze, it resembles a sewer system..."
The hole was big enough to barely fit a normal person.

After reaching the middle of the pitch-black stairway, Shien exclaimed.
"...it stinks down here!" It was moist and smelly, proof that the place hadnt been visited for a long time.

"Thirty years ago is a long time..." Frausty remarked as she gazed at Shien.

He appeared to be as young as he had been when she had first met him. There was no sign of aging; no lingering presence of the passing of time on his smooth face. The traces of time could only be traced in his clear green eyes. There was wisdom mingled with experience that hadn't been more noticeable before when she had first come to know him. She couldn't remember how long that had been. She had no recollection of her age either. Frausty wondered what he had gone through when she had left his shack.

I will, Kaz. There are many questions I need to ask him.

When Shien mentioned that the presence of a tavern was only a disguise, Frausty arched an eyebrow and asked, "What's actually down there?"

She descended down the dark tunnel and followed him. It was pitch black. She could barely see anything. She listened to the sound of his footsteps and followed him. A putrid smell permeated the air. It smelled musty and nauseating.

"Yeah, it stinks. Let's hurry, please."
